MEET OUR FOUNDER
My name is Cindy McCollough. I was born in Ohio and I lived on a 156-acre farm. I loved animals from the day I was born. As a young child, I met lots of animals that were "dumped" and some of them were ill and/or injured. My parents and I gave them a home and cared for them.
When I was in 3rd grade, we moved from Ohio to Florida. My love for animals became stronger with each passing day.
When I entered 9th grade, I watch a TV program, SQUAD 51. I knew then that I wanted to be a Paramedic. Another year went quickly and I was in 10th grade. I started to volunteer my time at the Fire Department. I also tried my hand as a Candy Striper in a hospital, but my interest was more focused on being a Paramedic. I became a certified nursing assistant, a CNA!
To earn some money, I worked many different jobs in many different lines of business.
But I wanted to be a Paramedic and work with people. However, my passion for animals kept surfacing. I knew I wanted to work in the animal world, too.
After graduating High School, I went to school to become a Paramedic. Also, I volunteered at the Humane Society. I noticed that senior animals were being euthanized. I knew then that I wanted to have a Sanctuary and Rescue for cats. I was determined to bring my dream alive. I would have a place for cats to live out their lives.
So, I helped to save peoples' lives as a Paramedic for twenty-three (23) years with Manatee County Emergency Medical Services.
I started a cat sanctuary in my home to save cats' lives. Thus, TANKS was born!!!!
